Danilo Spinola

Dr Danilo Spinola is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Birmingham City University. He holds a PhD on Economics from the United Nations University (UNU-MERIT)/Maastricht University, where he has also been a postdoctoral fellow.
Prior to starting his PhD, Spinola has worked for the UN at the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC/Santiago-Chile). He has experience working as an external consultant for other international organizations such as the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) and the UN’s Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Spinola’s academic works is centered on a pluralist economics perspective, focused on the challenges of economic development in a structuralist framework (Innovation, Structural Change and Economic Complexity). He is furthermore interested in developing alternative economic theories in the Post-Keynesian and Evolutionary traditions, addressing the challenges of today’s social and economic development.
